What is "GEAR"?
GEAR stands for "Gallery for Evolutionary Computation and Artificial Intelligence Researches".

Takao TERANO
Professor, Department of Computer Science, School of Computing, Tokyo Institute of Technology.
He received his BA degree in 1976, M.A. degree in 1978, both from the University of Tokyo, Japan, and had the Doctor of Engineering Degree in 1991 from Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan.
During 1978 and 1989, he was research scientist at the Central Research Institute of the Electric Power Industry. His research interests include Genetic Algorithm-based machine learning, Case-based reasoning, Analogical reasoning, Distributed Artificial Intelligence, Cooperative Agents, Computational Organization Theory., and Knowledge System Development Methodology.
He is a member of the editorial board of major AI-related academic societies in Japan and a member of IEEE, AAAI, ACM, and PAAA (president).
